Dr. Annapurna Vyakarnam is currently Adjunct Professor at St. John’s Research Institute, India and visiting professor at the Centre for Infectious Disease Research (CIDR) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISC) in Bangalore, India. Dr. Vyakarnam holds a PhD in tumor immunology from Darwin College (Cambridge, UK). Her laboratory uses cellular, molecular, immunological and functional genomic approaches to probe in vitro infection systems as well as conduct an in-depth functional analysis of clinical samples from HIV/TB-infected and or HIV-TB coinfected subjects aimed to deconvolute the adaptive T-cell response in such subjects. In the past 4 years she has set up an active wet laboratory research programme at IISc and St John’s Research Institute focusing on immune profiling specifically T cell responses in HIV and Mtb infections using primary clinical samples obtained through collaboration from St John’s Research Institute.
