K. Suresh Babu

Dr. Babu is a Senior Principal Scientist at CSIR-IICT and Professor AcSIR. He obtained his Ph.D. from the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad in 2005. He then moved to purse his post-doctoral studies at the National Centre for Natural Products Research (NCNPR), University of Mississippi, USA for three years in the area of Natural Products and Medicinal Chemistry. He returned to India and joined in CSIR service in 2007 at Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad. Dr. Babu’s research group has successfully isolated several new bioactive molecules from natural resources and synthesized many derivatives from natural product-based lead compounds.  He is leading many projects of national importance in New Drug Discovery, Standardization of Herbal Drugs of commercial importance.  The focus of his research is on the development of novel small molecule immunomodulators based on natural products and their scaffolds.
